About Reverse Tax Tool

Reverse Tax Tool is a small, independent website with free calculators for working backwards from a tax-included price: removing UK VAT, Canadian GST and HST, and building the same sums as spreadsheet formulas.

Why it exists

Most VAT calculators give you a single number. When you are checking a receipt, filling in an expense claim or pricing a quote, you usually need to see how that number was reached – and to be sure it adds back up to the total. Every result here shows the working, and the net price and tax always add up to the amount you entered.

How rates are checked

Tax rates come from official sources only – GOV.UK for the UK, and the Canada Revenue Agency and provincial governments for Canada. Each calculator shows the date the rates were last checked and links to the source.

What this site is not

This site gives general information and arithmetic, not tax or accounting advice. It is not affiliated with HMRC, the Canada Revenue Agency or any government body. If you are unsure how tax applies to a particular sale, check the official guidance or ask an accountant.
